Better Bones Pellets - a carefully developed combination of key minerals, vitamins D3 and K, collagen and amino acids to support proper bone growth and development in young horses, including young racehorses, sport horses in training and mares.

Skeletal development in a young horse begins in the womb, so proper nutrition for the mare is crucial for the development of the unborn foal. Producing quality milk significantly strains the mare's mineral reserves, so maintaining mineral balance during lactation is essential to support rapid skeletal development in the first weeks and months of the foal's life.

Imbalances in minerals and other nutrients in foals can contribute to the occurrence and severity of skeletal developmental abnormalities. Although genetics and environmental factors also play an important role, breeders and trainers can significantly influence the nutrition of horses under their care, ensuring optimal levels of key nutrients.

Young sport horses, such as racehorses or young jumpers, dressage and eventing horses competing in age-restricted competitions, undergo training and competition that places stress on their immature bones and joints. While there are many factors that can lead to skeletal problems in young sport horses, providing the right nutrients to increase bone density helps achieve optimal bone strength and can reduce the incidence and severity of injuries.

Better Bones can also be given to horses on long-term rest, when forced inactivity can lead to bone demineralization, increasing the risk of further injury when work resumes.

    Advantages of Better Bones Pellets:

Calcium - one of the most important minerals in bones, making up about 35% of a horse's bone tissue and playing a key role in muscle and nerve function. Calcium is obtained from a combination of organic and inorganic sources for optimal bioavailability, including seaweed, calcium gluconate, dicalcium phosphate and alfalfa.

Phosphorus - makes up about 15% of bone tissue and plays a key role in energy and fat metabolism.

Magnesium - about 60% of the magnesium in a horse's body is found in the skeleton (and about 30% in the muscles). Magnesium is obtained from seaweed.

Vitamin D3 - plays a key role in proper calcium metabolism.

Vitamin K - is important for numerous physiological processes including bone metabolism, energy production and immune function.

MSM - supports the horse's natural anti-inflammatory processes and provides a bioavailable source of sulfur to support hoof growth.

Collagen and Amino Acids - Collagen is a protein that, along with other key amino acids, provides a framework for calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals, thereby increasing the strength and hardness of the skeleton. This combination of collagen and minerals provides bones with both the strength and flexibility needed to withstand the stresses of normal physical activity. Collagen also supports the health of soft tissues (tendons and ligaments).

Copper, zinc, manganese and silicon - key trace minerals obtained from a combination of organic and inorganic sources for optimal bioavailability, all of which play an important role in bone growth and development.
