Measuring cup size for dietary supplements - how to measure correctly?
We have received several questions about the scoops that come with our horse supplements. Namely, the volume is indicated on the measuring cups in milliliters (ml), but the dosage is indicated in grams (g). Here is a detailed explanation!
Why is ml not the same as ig?
Scoops measure volume (ml) , while dietary supplement doses are measured in grams (g) . The reason is the different densities of individual products - for example, 500g of flour takes up a different volume than 500g of sugar!
How to use a measuring cup correctly?
Everything you need to know is on the product label:
✔ How many grams per scoop
✔ How many scoops you should give your horse per day
Important notes:
Never use the same measuring cup for different products.
Most products require a flat scoop, but some require a rounded scoop (indicated on the label)
Dosage examples:
Buteless Super Strength Powder
Measuring cup: 60 ml
Dosage: rounded scoop = 50 g (daily dose for a 500 kg horse)
Buteless Super Strength Powder 500g (10 days)
Uls-Gard Pellets
Measuring cup: 75 ml = 50 g
Recommendation: 1 scoop 2x daily (total 100 g)
Uls-Gard Pellets 1.5kg
Magnitude Powder
Measuring cup: 5 ml = 5 g
Daily dose: 1 scoop
Magnitude Powder 1kg
